Addressing the myths about terrorism in America

Jason Silva, Celinet Duran, Josh Freilich and Steve Chermak just published an article in the International Criminal Justice Review to tackle the myths about terrorism that circulate in sensational media coverage about the political motivations and nature of terrorism in the United States.

1- Is terrorism getting worse? No! Incidents are decreasing over time, and often involve no deaths or injuries.

2- Are jihadists the main terroristic threat in the US? No! Most terrorists are domestic based, white, motivated by a far-right ideology, and acting alone.

The study is based on rigorous empirical data from the Extremist Crime Database and Global Terrorism Database.
