New research on technology-facilitated abuse and cyber hate in Australia

Check out this new study looking at technology-facilitated abuse and cyber hate in Australia.

Survey data was collected in a sample of 4,562 adult Australians.

Some of the key findings are:

  • One in four respondents (23%) reported having engaged in technology-facilitated abuse at least once in their lifetimes
  • One in two (51%) respondents reported having experienced at least one abusive behaviour in their lifetime
  • Cyber hate in form of emotional abuse and threats of harm (31%) and harassment (27%) were very common in the sample

There is a strong need for education and victim support in this space.
